Zara bolsters its green reputation with the launch of a repair, resale and donation platform for its clothing.
Zara PreOwned of the clothing chain lets shoppers in the UK give away, sell or refurbish clothes instead of sending them to landfill.
High-street retailers try to show that they are environmentally friendly, especially when compared to fast-fashion companies that have been criticized for using cheap materials for clothing that can be worn only once before throwing it in the trash.
Brands like Marks & Spencer and John Lewis have taken similar steps.
Zara said the launch is part of owner Inditex’s commitment to reducing waste and reducing the amount of raw materials it uses.
It will release an app on November 3 that will allow shoppers to list their unwanted clothing for resale.
They can also pick up clothes from home for donation to the Red Cross.
And shoppers can request repairs for Zara clothing in any season.
