Zac Efron’s physique and bowl haircut for The Iron Claw divides fans

Zac Efron has shocked fans after he debuted his new, extremely toned body on Monday to play a wrestler on the set of The Iron Claw.

The 35-year-old actor showed a totally unrecognizable look as he prepares to play Kevin Von Erich in the film.

The star, who has always been known for his handsome body, has gained a significant amount of muscle to recreate Von Erich’s frame, while sporting a deep tan.

Zac, who recently addressed speculation about his changing face, also wore a bowl-style wig as he sauntered about the set on his phone, wearing nothing but a blue towel.

But fans were divided over the new look, with some praising the actor for trying to accurately mimic the wrestler’s body, while others feared he’d gone too far.

One said, “Zac Efron came out of here looking like sexy Ned Flanders.”

While another stunned Twitter user wrote: ‘This can’t be my Zac efron’.

A third echoed, “What’s going on with Zac Efron?”

And a fourth claimed, “Wow, I never thought we’d lose Zac Efron to over-the-top plastic surgery.”

A fifth agreed, tweeting: ‘Oh my god Zac Efron, you destroyed your face’.

And a sixth joked, “The David Hasselhoffification of Zac Efron.”

Others were amazed at how well the actor transformed into the famous wrestler and took to Twitter to praise him.

One said, ‘Is that Zac Efron? Wow! He is unrecognizable!’

While another tweeted: ‘I was really cool with Zac Efron playing Kevin Von Erich in the new A24 movies bio. From this shot, it looks like Zac was the right choice physically. Now I just need to hear his Texan streak.’

A third praised: ‘Zac Efron’s body transformation is INSANE’.

And a fourth stated: ‘Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich sends me to the goddamn moon’.

It’s not the first time the High School Musical star has been at the center of a heated debate over his appearance.

Zac was previously charged with plastic surgery after showing a massive transformation to his face last year.

But the actor denied the claims, confessing instead that the change in appearance was caused by an unfortunate accident at home.

In an interview with Men’s health magazinehe remembered putting on a pair of socks as he ran to his house, knocking his chin against a granite fountain.

The star explained that he lost consciousness only to wake up with “his chin bone hanging off his face.”

Zac said that when he was injured, the masseter muscles on the inside of his face and jaw then ‘compensated’ for his injury making them bigger – hence his remarkable transformation.

He says this explains why he looked so different back then. ‘The masseters have just grown. They just got really, really big.”

The High School Musical star also claimed not to know that he was a huge conversationalist on social media and had in fact gone viral due to his different looking jaw, until his mom called to ask if he’d gone under the knife.

“If I cared so much about what other people thought of me that they might think I do,” he told the magazine, “I absolutely couldn’t do this job.”

In April 2021, Zac started trending on Twitter after being spotted on a video for Earth Day! The musical displays a more prominent square chin and heavier jawline.

In the clip, Zac eagerly calls Bill Nye a “genius” after learning that he and Justin Bieber were working on a fictional Earth Day musical.

It led fans to speculate that the hunky star had sought plastic surgery.

Zac also spoke about what he did to achieve his sculpted physique for the Baywatch movie in 2017.

He said, ‘That Baywatch look, I don’t know if that’s really feasible. There is simply not enough water in the skin. Like, it’s fake; it looks CGI.

That required Lasix, a powerful diuretic, to achieve. So I don’t have to do that. I’d much rather have an extra, you know, 2 to 3 percent body fat.’
