Jenni-abs, who is mentioned on the social media site @jenniabs3, showed her followers how to properly use the simple peeler.
And people are stunned by this discovery, with many saying they are “seriously questioning everything I’m doing in life right now.”
In the video, which has more than 627,000 likes, the TikToker showed her followers how the peeler rotates back and forth.
She started by saying, “Did you know that the reason potato peelers swing back and forth is that you can go down as well as forward when you’re peeling – and you can peel the whole thing super fast.”
Jenni-abs demonstrated the back-and-forth method on a large sweet potato.
With one hand she holds the potato firmly and skims past the vegetable without taking her hand off when she reaches the bottom.
With one quick and easy movement, she sweeps the potato up and down, removing the skin in one go.
She continued, “Without actually having to lift the peeler off the vegetable.”

Another baffled user wrote, “Oh my God I was years old today when I heard this.”
However, some followers of Jenni-abs claimed that this hack could lead people to cut themselves.
And so she made a follow-up video, clarifying and addressing the safety concerns.
In it, she said, “It’s literally impossible to cut yourself doing it my way because you never really lift the knife off the potato, so you don’t really put the knife in a position to cut you.”
“But if you do it the old way, you pick up the knife, put it down again, pick it up and put it down—you have the chance to accidentally miss and cut your skin.”
“If you’re a klutz in the kitchen or just terrified, a fork will keep the potato still while you’re at it, so your skin won’t get in the way at all.”
