The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are getting significant upgrades as Samsung continues to roll out the One UI 5 patch.
This update comes a week after it arrived on the Galaxy Watch 5 series, and just like before, it’s just as big. Watch as 4 owners get over 20 new features for a variety of functions change logs for both devices can be found on the official website of the technology giant. The two wearables get exactly the same patch. There won’t be any difference between the two, so don’t worry about missing out if you only own one.
Since there’s a lot to discuss, we’re just going to focus on the more notable changes. For example, the sleep coach on the Samsung Health app now displays a more detailed results screen. The additional information will make it “easier to understand your personal sleep habits,” according to the company. It even offers recommendations right on the watch face instead of your phone screen.
In addition, people can create their own workout on their wearable if they can’t find one that suits them, and the Galaxy Watch 4 will track your heart while jogging with the update to “help you manage your workout intensity. ”
Improving the quality of life
Within the patch are some nice quality of life changes, which improve the usability of the Galaxy Watch 4.
Universal gestures are being implemented that allow users to operate their smartwatch without touching the screen. In the future, you can “assign different actions” to specific hand movements, such as shaking your wrist or making a fist. In addition, a new battery tile has been added that allows you to monitor the battery life of other connected devices, such as your Galaxy Buds.
Phone controls have been improved, allowing people to take photos using their mobile device’s camera via smartwatch. Samsung states that a camera icon appears at the bottom of your watch face. Tapping it will give you access to the smartphone lens. However, this feature is limited to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, which also need to be in their respective Flex or Tent mode.
Availability
Other notable features include on-device folders for better organization and the ability to pair your watch with another phone without the need for a factory reset. Your collection of watch faces and apps will remain untouched.
Online reports claim that the update is currently making its way to Galaxy Watch 4 users in the United States. It’s unknown if Samsung plans to expand the release to other countries; however we did ask. This story will be updated at a later date.
