Young glamorous woman is exasperated after multiple Melbourne venues reject her over the same issue with her driver’s licence
A young Australian woman has expressed her frustration at being continually refused entry to venues because of her driver’s license photo.
In a video posted to TikTok earlier this month, 21-year-old Jessica revealed that she had to resort to getting a new license to fix the problem.
She said the photo on her driver’s license, which is three years old, means “no location in Melbourne” will accept her ID.
“Every time I go out now – and you need ID in every place… every location, every person thinks it’s fake, they say the photo isn’t mine, it’s not a real ID.”
She said venues always ask for another form of ID, but her license is her main form of photo ID.
Jessica said even when she tried to use her Victorian driver’s license in Sydney, she was accused of having a fake ID.
‘It’s so frustrating. I’m not a new 18 year old, why would I carry a fake ID?’ she said.
Jessica said to prove her identity she must show her Medicare card, MyGov, a bank card and a Crown card and log into the VicRoads app.
In a video posted to TikTok earlier this month, Jessica (pictured) revealed she had to resort to getting a new driver’s license to solve the problem of being denied entry to venues.
“I’m literally always fighting with them,” she said.
Jessica said she also had a big problem with a location in Melbourne.
“There was one place in particular in Melbourne that is such a popular location where my ID was not accepted at all, and I asked to speak to the manager and had an argument with security,” she said.
“I showed them everything I had.”
“I showed them my debit card like on my phone and the name matches and they still won’t accept it.”
Jessica filmed the video while sitting in her car in a VicRoads car park where she was applying for a new driving license with a new photo.
She shared an image of the current photo on her driver’s license, in which she looks very different.
“So hopefully when I take another photo it works and I can breathe because I hate it,” Jessica said.

“I always get so much anxiety.”
Jessica’s followers on TikTok sympathized with her predicament.
“I feel like the roads should make it mandatory to update license plate photos. My partner is 25 and he still has the same photo from when he was 16 and he looks NOTHING like it,” one person wrote.
Another wrote: ‘My photo on my license is 20 years old. And my signature looks nothing like what it is now. I was amazed when VicRoads said I didn’t need a new photo when I got it renewed recently. This is the most accepted form of photo ID, but it looks nothing like me.”
A third wrote: ‘I get this all the time too because I had red hair in my old pic and the problem is I’m 22 but it looks like I’m still 16 lmao.’

‘My license is free because I have a clean record and if you want a new photo they just change the cards!!!’
One follower criticized Jessica for posting about the issue: “Damn first world problems.”
Jessica replied, “How? I could be anywhere in the world and experience this.”
