Young single woman secretly flees her first date with a man because of a $4.50 mistake he made at dinner

Young single woman secretly flees her first date with a man over a $4.50 mistake he made at dinner — but opinions are divided on who’s wrong

  • A woman got the “ick” after a date refused to pay $4.50 for cheese
  • The single was shocked at how “cheap” he was on a first date

A woman was shocked when her Hinge date displayed “gloomy” first-date etiquette by making an unusual ordering mistake.

Dafna, from New York, was pleased to discover that her date, Zakir, seemed very nice and disliked her.

But her mood immediately changed when a waitress came by to take their order.

Dafna ordered a Branzino while Zakir ordered a burger – but he refused to add cheese to his meal for an extra $3 (AUD$4.50).

“He complained that he had to pay for everything these days,” she said in a video.

“Why am I doing this to myself?” she asked in the now-viral video. “I thought it went well.”

She explained that she ate as fast as possible because she was hungry and then lied that she went to the toilet to freshen up.

“I just grabbed my wallet and went to the waitress, paid the $55 (AUD $83) bill, texted him that the bill was paid and he should have gotten the cheese.”

Dafna blocked Zakir immediately after sending the message.

“It’s New York,” she said. “Of course things are expensive.”

“I was going to pay $21 (AUD$31.50) for a burger so adding $3 wasn’t worth it,” he said in a follow-up video

But in the world of TikTok, Zakir soon got wind of her TikTok and decided to link a reaction to it.

“I was planning on paying $21 (AUD$31.50) for a burger, so adding $3 wasn’t worth it,” he said in a follow-up. video.

“So, thanks for paying for dinner, and goodbye!”

Millions of people have followed the saga – calling the pair “cheese girl” and “cheese guy” for convenience.

Some of the women really understood where Dafna was coming from and admitted they would act the same way.

“It’s not about how much the cheese costs,” one woman wrote. “It’s about why you complain about it on your first date.”

“You’re great, I would have done that too. Complaining about money on a first date is a huge turn off.”

But many more sided with Zakir, claiming it was “ridiculous” to pay $3 for a slice of cheese — and that Dafna was too quick to judge her date.

“He just decided the cheese wasn’t worth it, I don’t see the problem with that.”

“I think there’s something wrong with me because $3 for cheese on a burger is outlandish.”

‘The problem is that people are too quick to judge someone based on one comment. You didn’t even give him a chance based on a piece of cheese.’

“I can’t believe you paid $21 for a burger with no cheese.”

“I expected him to do something very miserable. I wouldn’t pay three dollars for a slice of cheese either.’
