Young Brit collapses on street in Magaluf, just metres from where a father of four was found dead 24 hours earlier, covered in mysterious bite marks, as revellers continue to party on the infamous strip

A young Briton has fainted on a street in Magaluf, just metres from where an Irish tourist, a father of four, was found dead less than 24 hours ago, covered in mysterious bite marks, as partygoers continued to party on the notorious seafront.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to help the man, described as a Briton in his early 20s, who was taken to a local hospital by ambulance at 2am on Tuesday.

The man fell to the sidewalk in front of Mulligan’s Irish pub, located on the resort’s notorious Punta Bellena Street, lined with bars, nightclubs and lap-dancing clubs that stay open late.

Bystanders alerted Spanish police, who regularly patrolled the centre of Magaluf throughout the night.

Officers called an ambulance and assisted emergency workers in lifting the partygoer onto a stretcher so he could be treated for suspected alcohol poisoning.

The photo shows paramedics and medical staff in orange reflective shirts placing the 20-year-old on a stretcher in the middle of the street, strapping him in and pushing him into the ambulance.

The young man was not the only one who passed out from excessive drinking. There were other partygoers around him who continued to party.

Teenagers patrolled the network of bars and nightclubs until the early hours.

Photos taken on the Strip show partygoers continuing their alcoholic antics, dressed in fancy dress hats and sitting in eateries with their legs up on tables.

Other photos from the scene show a man in a white T-shirt, gray shorts and sneakers lying unconscious on a sidewalk in the entertainment district.

You can see his back supported by the stone, while his legs dangle over the edge to the ground.

Large crowds of people gathered in the streets outside nightclubs, as friends held the hair of people vomiting on the ground and other partygoers walked around next to police cars with cups of drink in their hands.

But less than 24 hours earlier, 45-year-old father of four Michael Grant, from Ireland, was found unconscious on the same street, just metres away.

Mr Grant, who was on holiday in Magaluf with his wife Leanne and at least two of their four children and other families from Ireland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to initial reports, he had died of natural causes.

However, this morning it emerged that Mr Grant had sustained leg injuries consistent with a car collision, as well as bite marks on his arm and shoulder.

The Waterford physiotherapist also had a deep wound in which glass was found.

Investigators are now awaiting the results of a full autopsy, due to take place later today, to see if it confirms initial suspicions that the holidaymaker suffered a heart attack after a day of partying, or whether his shocking death is linked to something far more serious.

He and his group were staying at the Sol Katmandu Park and Resort before he tragically passed away.

He reportedly took a wrong turn and became separated from other members of his group after spending the afternoon drinking by his hotel pool before going out partying.

Yesterday, a security guard alerted local police, telling officers that he had seen the man collapse and fall to the ground.

The dead man was identified by the hotel wristband he was wearing, as well as the names of his wife and children tattooed on his back.

A spokesman for Calvia council, which is responsible for the Magaluf area, had said earlier in the day that the dead man was British, but it was later confirmed that he was travelling on an Irish passport.

A hotel employee added: “Mr Grant’s family and friends cried all morning” after hearing the news of his unexpected death.

Mr Grant was head coach of the youth academy at St. Joseph’s AFC Waterford football club.

A statement on the Facebook page said: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the sudden passing of our dearest club member and head coach, Michael Grant.

‘As many of you know, Michael was more than just a coach to us. He was a beloved friend and as a club and for his family, we need time to process this devastating loss.’

Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the matter and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular matters, the Department does not comment on the details of a specific case.”
