A young bride-to-be has been criticized online after publishing a list of things that have made people angry in the run-up to her wedding.
The woman sought sympathy, but her “scandalous” list had the opposite effect and was even reposted to a wedding shaming group.
The list included a cash bar and the ability to “clean up” guests if they were still there when the party ended.
“Note that these are not from people coming to my wedding or from those who were invited,” she said.
To start off the list, she revealed that there would be no rehearsal dinner and no food for the bridal party before the reception.
A bride-to-be has posted a list of the decisions 'people complained about' ahead of her wedding
“My girls know they have to eat breakfast before they show up and none of us have lunch,” she said.
She also said she won't be getting any gifts for her wedding party.
Plus, she said people hated that her ceremony lasts 90 minutes, that there's a three-hour gap between the ceremony and the reception — and if you don't make it to the ceremony, you're not welcome at the party.
She said the ceremony starts at one, which was another complaint – and the reception ends at ten and the guest doesn't receive thank you cards in the mail.
“The purpose of this message is to show that no matter what decisions you make, people will be upset.
'Don't lose sight of what matters. Do what works for you and your wedding party.”
The original post was unpopular, as was the screenshot posted on a popular wedding shaming group.
“They're trashing her in the comments and she's just being stubborn and rude,” one woman said.
“I knew this was going to end here,” others added.
People couldn't believe the list of demands.
“The icing on the cake is that if you are there at the end of the reception, you can help with the cleaning,” said one woman.
“The way I would walk out of anyone who insisted that I, as a guest at their event, clean up with them…but with all the other trash, I probably wouldn't be there at all.”
“She said that no matter the decision, people will be upset… and then listed every unpopular marriage decision. Honey, those invited to your wedding and wedding party are mad at you too,” another added.
“Making one of these decisions could throw everyone off, but making them all? I would really think about how I could get out of the wedding instead of attending,” said another.
Some said she would regret it.
'No food and a 1.5 hour ceremony? She's going to pass out,” one woman said.
Shocked that she wouldn't offer her guests anything during the three-hour period either.
Others were shocked by the lengthy service, but others explained that “full mass” ceremonies can take so long.
“I've gone to weddings now as an adult where the ceremony lasted about 15 minutes, and I have to remind myself that not everyone is Catholic or Orthodox,” one woman said.
But others saw no problem with the list.
The woman was furious with the reactions
'I do not get it. Here in Europe (at least Sweden) her list would be standard at most weddings. Maybe the reception would be a little later,” said another.
In another post, she defended her rules.
She explained that there is no way she and her partner can clean up the wedding venue in 30 minutes – and that they have to leave the venue by 10.30am.
She said she and her bridal party don't eat while they get ready because they risk spilling something on the dresses.
She'll be too busy taking pictures to eat before the reception.
'No one has said a word that really rings true. Some have said they like the ideas,” she added.
She said physical thank you cards were not in the budget.
“But thank you for doing exactly what I said people did,” she said as she signed off.
