A young Australian has revealed he is often mistaken for his mother’s boyfriend because of her youthful looks.
In a video on social media, single mother Adile, 36, asked her 19-year-old son Rizal about his experience of having a younger mother.
“As a young mother, it’s common to be mistaken for his sister, and now that he’s getting older, as his girlfriend,” she explained.
“I mean, it’s kind of flattering,” the 36-year-old added.
She asked her son, “Do you think people are still surprised that I’m your mother?”
“Yes, everyone I meet will happily ask me, ‘Who is that girl in your Instagram story?’ And I think that’s my mom, brother, and they’re like, ‘What the hell is going on?'” her son says.

Adile’s son said people often think his mother is his girlfriend or sister because of her youthful appearance
Her son said it felt “really weird” when people wrongly thought his mother was his girlfriend. He found it “more believable” that she could be mistaken for his sister because he looks more mature than before.
“You haven’t changed in six years,” he says of his mother.
Adile, who considers her son her best friend, emphasized that he is often asked for ID, to which he replied, “You too.”
She asked her son about the experience of growing up without a father and if he had any advice or insights to share with other single mothers or children raised by single mothers.
“You don’t need a father to have male role models,” Rizal said.
‘Surround yourself with good role models. It could be your coach or teacher, someone who is involved in your life.’
Adile became pregnant at the age of 16 and had her son when she was 17.
“I thought having a son at 17 would completely ruin my life,” Adile explained.
But now, 19 years later, we are like best friends and one of the benefits of having a child young is that you actually grow up together and the bond you have is more like a brother and sister, or a better relationship . friends’.

Adile said telling her mother she was pregnant as a teenager was “one of the worst days of my entire life.”
‘I remember sitting across from her in my school uniform and I didn’t even have to tell her. She looked at me and I looked at her and she said, ‘You’re pregnant, aren’t you?’
“It was horrible, she got up, ran to the bathroom and threw up.”
When asked about the positives of having a young mother, Adile’s son said he had a “deeper” bond with her than some of his friends had with their parents.
“I can do fun things with my mom and I can tell her about things that other parents might not remember… they’re not on the same page.”
Her son also shared some negative aspects of having a younger mother.
“You can’t sneak out or do anything sneaky because she still knows all the tricks, because she technically grew up in this generation.”
Her son says it was “very strange” when people mistook his mother for his sister or girlfriend

Many Aussies resonated with her story, saying they had a similar age gap between themselves and their children or parents.
“This is just like me and my mom, she’s 37 and I’m 19,” one comment read.
Others were surprised to learn the pair were mother and son.
“Wow, I thought you were dating or brother and sister. Such a beautiful mother,” said one.
While others complimented the mother on her youthful appearance.
“Where did you find the Fountain of Youth?” someone asked.
‘I think the child has that gene too. He also looks younger than his actual age. All the best’.
