‘You think I’m a maniacal maniac?’: Moment cyclist confronts BMW driver as they argue if he is parked across a bike lane or sidewalk – so who is in the right?

A confrontation between a cyclist and a BMW owner on a driveway ended surprisingly intensely, as they argued over who had the right of way.

In recent years, cities and towns in America and around the world have seen the addition of more and more bike lanes, and with them, regulations that dictate where bike lanes should be placed. This often leads to tense situations between cyclists and motorists.

In a video that went viral on Thursday with the caption “Cyclists are some of the most spoiled people on the planet,” a cyclist becomes completely upset when he comes across a vehicle parked in the driveway as he tries to pass.

“Nice, super nice,” the cyclist says sarcastically, while the BMW owner looks bewildered and hears him asking what’s going on.

As the cyclist begins to ride around his car without any problem, they get angry and say: ‘You are literally blocking the bike path! What do you mean, what?’

In a viral video posted Thursday with the caption “Cyclists are some of the most spoiled people on the planet,” a cyclist becomes upset when he encounters the vehicle parked in the driveway as he tries to drive through

The driver clearly realizes the strange situation he is in and says he will pick someone up to give the passenger something.

“That’s still not allowed here,” the cyclist replies, somewhat uncertainly.

“What do you mean? It’s a sidewalk,” he says back rudely.

“No, it’s a bike path and a sidewalk is not for cars,” shouts the angry cyclist, which finally starts to put the motorist on the wrong track.

He replies with a smile, “You’re crazy! Do you think I’m a maniacal maniac?”

The biker doesn’t outright call him a maniac, but says, “Yeah, I’m just saying you ignore other people.”

‘I’m literally picking someone up, we’re in a quiet street!’

The driver seems to finally have had enough of this, after the cyclist again claims that he shouldn’t be there.

The driver, clearly realizing the strange situation he is in, says he is picking someone up to appease the passenger.

In recent years, cities and towns across America and the world have seen the introduction of more bike lanes, and with them regulations indicating where they should go, often leading to awkward moments between cyclists and motorists.

‘Oh, you’re crazy, live your life well.’

Finally, there is agreement when the cyclist replies, “You too!”

The driver can be heard mumbling that he’s “sure people love you” to the cyclist as he rides away.

Who is right?

Bike lane laws vary widely across the country. In New York City and New York State, cars are only allowed to block bike lanes to enter or exit a driveway, according to the Ministry of Transport.

In California, however, there are laws that warn cyclists to “be prepared for vehicles stopped at stop signs, in driveways or parking lots, which may stop suddenly in front of you.”

It’s unclear what state this video is set in, so the real answer isn’t finding out who was legally right in this viral meeting of the minds.
