‘You run the business and you’re a rich man’: New York bank manager Reshma Massarone is being charged with a failed murder plot after she ‘offered $10,000 hitman to kill her brother-in-law’

A woman labeled “evil” by her family was arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to take out her brother-in-law.
Reshma Massarone of Hudson Valley, New York was indicted last month on the alleged murder-for-hire scheme in Manhattan Federal Court.
In July, the 39-year-old bank manager allegedly offered an unknown friend $10,000 to kill her brother-in-law while he was on a family trip to their native Guyana.
According to court documents, Massarone sent the would-be hit man the following message on Facebook: “You run the business and you’re a rich man.”
At the time, she reportedly wired $2,500 to the person, who said he was making the attack look like a robbery gone wrong.

What happened instead, however, was that a day before the assassination was to take place, the person told the intended target about the plot.
The pair then went to the US embassy, where they spoke to authorities.
The brother-in-law told authorities that he and Massarone had an “ongoing civil lawsuit pending in New York.”
The attempted murder came after several months of infighting between Massarone and her family, who believe she was trying to exploit a dying relative by taking out an insurance policy for her.
On Facebook, a family member wrote of Massarone, “This cold-hearted animal tried to exploit my dying sister…so this is her karma coming full circle.”
Another added, “This woman is so bad. She has been torturing and tormenting people for a long time.”
The civil lawsuit between Massarone and the alleged target of the murder plot may have been related to a restraining order she filed against him that was rejected by a judge, according to reporting by the New York newspaper New York. After.
“I think her next step was to have him killed because she was tied up with the attorney fees and everything,” a family member said.
“I think it was in her mind to get rid of the problem, rather than sue.”
Another family member said the family has “zero pity” for her and called her a “heifer.”

Massarone has had several dealings with the New York justice system.
In the past two years, she has taken the bank she was employed to court twice, claiming she was racially discriminated against while working there.
Both cases were dismissed by the judges.
In this case, a judge ordered that she be held without bail “based on danger to the community.”
The Mid-Hudson Valley Credit Union, where Massarone currently works, said she has been placed on administrative leave.
