Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United captain Harry Maguire to leave the club immediately as he accused manager Erik ten Hag of “disrespecting” the England centre-back.
Renowned as one of United’s legendary defenders, making 455 appearances for the Premier League giants and winning every major club honor during his trophy-laden 12-year spell at Old Trafford, Ferdinand admitted last month that he would be looking to a new club if he was Maguire.
The 44-year-old has now told Maguire to look for a way out from the club during the January transfer window, singling out the selection of Luke Shaw at centre-back over the Three Lions star as a justifiable reason for him to demand a move.

speaking in his vibes with five YouTube channel, Ferdinand described the actions he would have taken if he were in the boots of the outcast star, saying: “Luke Shaw is playing centre-back instead of him.”
“It’s like he came back after the World Cup, playing well, everyone says he’s done very well, and Patrice Evra is playing center back.”

The 29-year-old put the club’s woes behind him to produce a series of impressive performances during England’s 2022 World Cup campaign that saw Gareth Southgate’s side eliminated at the quarter-final stage.
Maguire has made just seven Premier League appearances for Man United so far this season.
His return to Manchester after the World Cup was expected to mark his career renaissance after a turbulent start to the season with Raphael Varane and Ten Hag’s preferred Argentine Lisandro Martinez.
Impressive performances in the Middle East don’t seem to have done enough to change the mindset of United’s Dutch decision-maker, however, with the Red Devils playing left-back Shaw in central defense while Maguire instead collapses on the bench.

Having arrived at the Theater of Dreams on a six-year, £80m contract in 2019, Maguire was given the club’s captaincy and was seen by many as the defender who needed to turn around United’s defensive fortunes.
Just over three years into his contract, it appears Maguire’s time at the famed club could soon come to a premature end.
