Welcome to Polygon's first weekend special of the new year. The choices are a bit thin at the start of 2024, but we still managed to snag some deals that you should definitely check out. For the uninitiated, every weekend at Polygon we bring you a roundup of our favorite deals from the past week in gaming and entertainment, along with some of the best-selling products to recently grace our site.

While the Steam Winter Sale has ended, you still have a few days to participate Epic Games Store Christmas Sale. Until January 10th you get a 33% discount on games such as Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Freedom, The Last of Us Part 1any game, as long as it costs $14.99 or more.

We've highlighted a handful of new releases and personal favorites for you to check out. But if you're only going to buy one game, we recommend it Alan Wake2, that is supplied a voucher for a free copy of Alan Wake remastered if you purchase a copy during the Epic Holiday Sale.

If you don't feel like spending even a penny on a new game, Epic offers this Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy free until January 11. This is one of the best narrative Marvel games in existence, and it features a surprisingly deep story with branching paths and countless decisions that affect how things play out. The voice cast and performances are great, and as an added bonus, this version of Starlord is 100% Chris Pratt-free. Finally, it wouldn't be Guardians without a killer '80s soundtrack, featuring hits from Pat Benatar, Def Leppard and many more.

Somehow, James Cameron is at least partially responsible for what is arguably Ubisoft's best open-world game in years. If you want to pick up Avatar: Borders of Pandora, the console versions retail for $49.99 at Walmart And GameStop (was $69.99). You can also pick up the PC version for around $46 from the Epic games store during the holiday sales.

We can't deny that the Meta Quest 3 is a great piece of hardware. It's currently the best way to experience VR, but at $499.99 you might be looking for a more affordable way to experience games like Resident Evil 4 VR, Defeat SabreAnd Super hot VR. If so, you should know that the 128 GB model of the Meta quest 2 recently received a permanent price drop to $249.99 (half the price of a new Quest 3). While the Quest 3 has a more powerful processor and better resolution screens, the Quest 2 still offers similar battery life and access to the same library of VR titles.
