Yokine, Perth: Horrifying moment cherry picker topples with worker, 22, inside it – leaving him with horror injuries

The terrifying moment a cherry picker topples over with a young worker inside was captured on CCTV as the man was rushed to hospital.

The 22-year-old man fell seven metres on Friday after the aerial platform collapsed while he was pruning trees in Yokine, in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Video of the fall shows the man landing on the opposite side of the road, where the machine narrowly avoided hitting a parked car.

The man’s colleague is seen crossing the road to help before the 22-year-old was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with a broken arm.

A City of Stirling spokesperson confirmed the man was on contract to work for the council when the incident happened just before 2pm.

“The council is aware of an incident involving a contractor earlier today,” he said.

‘The municipality understands that the person concerned is receiving medical assistance.’

WorkSafe has been notified and an investigation has been launched, with inspectors visiting the site later on Friday.
