Yogi recalls nearly 900,000 tea bags over possible pesticide contamination

Organic tea brand Yogi had to recall almost 900,000 tea bags after ‘pesticide residues’ were discovered.

The specific products being pulled from the shelves are the Echinacea Immune Support tea bags, which are sold in the US. reports CNN.

It was a Class III recall, which means exposure to the product’This is not likely to have any adverse health effectsthe FDA said.

The recalls affect 54,846 packages. With 16 tea bags per pack, the total number of potentially affected individual products is 877,536.

These specific tea bags were initially recalled on March 12 by Yogi’s parent company East West Tea.

No press release has been issued by the FDA or Yogi to address this recall.

The FDA also recently recalled some yogurt-covered pretzels sold in California that are suspected of being contaminated with Salmonella, a foodborne illness that affects 1.3 million Americans annually.
