Yixuan Cheng identified as sixth victim of Bondi Junction stabbing

A Chinese national has been identified as the sixth fatality in the Bondi Junction stabbing.

Yixuan Cheng was fatally killed on Saturday afternoon after Joel Cauchi, 40, fatally stabbed six people and injured at least 12 others in a rampage at the busy mall.

Five women and one man were killed while 12 others, including a baby, were seriously injured before Cauchi was shot dead by police officer Amy Scott.

A number of survivors were discharged from hospital overnight, while others remained under observation.

Yixuan Cheng was fatally killed on Saturday afternoon after Joel Cauchi, 40, fatally stabbed six people and injured at least 12 others in a rampage at the busy mall.

Among the victims was 38-year-old osteopath Ashlee Good, whose nine-month-old daughter was also injured and remained in intensive care on Sunday after emergency surgery.

Dr Good, the daughter of former North Melbourne AFL player and board member Kerry Good, was remembered by her family as a ‘beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend’ and an ‘all-round outstanding human being’.

An emotional North Melbourne coach, Alastair Clarkson, described her death as a “bloody tragedy” as monuments in Melbourne were lit up in tribute on Sunday evening.

“That poor little girl… without her mother now – she was a beautiful, beautiful lady,” he told reporters.

Other identified victims include Dawn Singleton, the 25-year-old daughter of multi-millionaire businessman John Singleton, 47-year-old architect Jade Young, 30-year-old security guard Faraz Tahir and 55-year-old artist and designer Pikria. Darchia.

Cauchi’s estranged family released a statement through Queensland Police on Sunday, saying they were devastated by the traumatic events and expressing their grief for the victims.

“Joel’s actions were truly heinous and we are still trying to understand what happened,” it said.

‘He has been struggling with psychological problems since he was a teenager.’

They had ‘no problem’ with Insp Scott shooting their son, saying she was only doing her job to protect others and hoped she would pull through.

Mall owner Scentre Group CEO Elliott Rusanow expressed his condolences to the family of murdered security guard Faraz Tahir.

“We are devastated by Faraz’s passing and recognize our team member’s courage and role as a first responder,” he said.

Among the injured was another security worker who was taken to hospital.
