Yet another fast food giant launches a value meal deal – and it might just be America’s favorite

Another fast food giant is joining the battle for value as the chain tries to win back customers.

Dunkin’ Donuts has launched its own $6 meal for the fall.

The offering includes a medium hot or iced coffee, a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and hash browns.

The chain launched the new deal in conjunction with its new seasonal menu, which includes dishes like Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Apple Cider Donuts.

No end date has been set for the deal, but it is expected to last through the fall.

The deal offers a discount of approximately 42 percent compared to ordering the items separately, according to Restaurant Dive analysis.

A medium iced coffee, bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and hash browns costs $10.37 (excluding tax) when ordered in Connecticut, compared to the $6 meal, the publication reported.

If you’d rather have a hot cup of coffee, the individual items together cost $9.77. That’s a discount of about 39 percent.

Dunkin’s fall menu is available for a limited time and includes a Pumpkin Spice Latte, Apple Cider Donuts, Almond Spice Latte, and baked pumpkin dishes.

The donut chain joins a number of other fast-food brands that are heavily relying on value-for-money deals to win back customers who have been dining out less often after two years of price increases.

McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, Starbucks, Popeyes and Taco Bell have all launched new value offers this year.

McDonald’s introduced a $5 meal deal earlier this summer that gets you a McChicken or McDouble, four pieces of chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

Rival Burger King’s $5 Your Meal offers a choice of one of three sandwiches – a Whopper Jr, a Bacon Cheeseburger or a Chicken Jr – plus four chicken nuggets, fries and a soft drink.

Wendy’s currently has a $3 breakfast deal as well as a $5 four-course meal, similar to those offered at McDonald’s and Burger King.

Popular sandwich chain Jimmy John’s is offering a $10 Total Package Meal, which includes an 8-inch sandwich, a soft drink, chips and a cookie or brownie.

Starbucks also made a surprise entry into the value-for-money space earlier this summer with a coffee and breakfast combo starting at $5.

Casual restaurant chains such as Applebee’s have also ventured into the value-priced meal market in an attempt to lure customers away from fast-food competitors such as McDonald’s.

The move to compete with fast food chains is reminiscent of Chilli’s, which also recently launched its new ‘Big Smasher’ – a larger version of the Big Mac, with fries and a drink for under $10.
