Yellowstone’s Josh Lucas, 53, pops the big question to ‘beautiful soul’ Brianna Ruffalo in sweet engagement video: ‘I got crazy lucky’

Josh Lucas popped the big question to Los Angeles meteorologist Brianna Ruffalo in an adorable engagement video posted to his Instagram page over the weekend.

The 53-year-old Yellowstone star, who recently announced he is “engaged” to Ruffalo after proposing in Italy in late June, said in the caption to the clips that he feels “very lucky.”

The first reel showed an emotional Brianna wiping away tears just moments after saying “I do.”

Lucas and the weather girl were both sitting in a restaurant, while a band of musical instruments was playing next to them. This added to the romantic atmosphere.

A large, sparkling diamond was visible on her left hand as Josh filmed her reaction to the proposal.

She wore a stylish black dress with a plunging neckline, while her voluminous locks fell down in light waves.

Brianna continued to cup her hands under her eyes, wiping away more tears and smiling softly at the camera.

In the second video, the actor films a close-up of the instruments being played, then switches to his fiancée to get a better look at the engagement ring on her finger.

The meteorologist still had a big grin on her face and laughed as she took in the moment.

Lucas also posted a selfie of the couple posing lovingly outside next to the bright purple flowers.

The Sweet Home Alabama star wrote in the caption, “For the past 2 years this beautiful soul has made me and my life better, deeper and more complete Every Way and Every Day.”

“I am so thankful & happy she said yes. I REALLY love you Brianna. & Thank you to our families & all the people & places that made this possible. I absolutely know I am incredibly lucky.”

Social media users immediately jumped into the comments to share their congratulations to the couple, including his Palm Royale colleague Kaia Gerber who wrote, “So happy for you two!!!!!!”

Ricky Martin added: ‘Congrats to you both,’ followed by celebratory emojis, while one fan shared: ‘Congrats Josh, WELL DONE. SO happy for you and @abc7briannaruffalo.’

House Of Cards actor Michael Kelly also wrote: ‘Congratulations to both of you!!!!’

In the weekend on Saturday, TMZ reported that Lucas got engaged to the Los Angeles meteorologist during their recent Italian getaway.

According to the outlet’s sources, the couple traveled extensively around the country, visiting Positano and Naples for the summer holidays.

Lucas reportedly saw this as the ideal time to pop the question, given Ruffalo’s ancestral ties to Italy.

The brunette accepted the offer and upon arriving in Los Angeles, the couple excitedly shared the news with their families, who were reportedly very happy for them.

Their engagement marks the culmination of a year-and-a-half relationship that began with a chance meeting at a restaurant while Lucas was on the set of his new series Palm Royale, insiders said.

In real life, Lucas managed to win his girlfriend’s heart, but his character in Sweet Home Alabama was less lucky.

Lucas rose to fame for his role in the 2002 romantic comedy opposite Reese Witherspoon, in which he played Witherspoon’s estranged husband Jake, while Patrick Dempsey played her fiancé Andrew.

During a red carpet event in May, Ruffalo admitted she wasn’t rooting for Lucas’ character in the film, telling E-news“I’m Team Patrick Dempsey.”

Ruffalo even joked that her opinion was an “ongoing problem” in their relationship.

‘From day one, [Brianna] “She was like, ‘Oh yeah, you were the other guy,'” Lucas said at the time. “She was like, ‘I didn’t like you because you stole her from Patrick.'”

Josh married writer Jessica Ciencin Henriquez in 2012, but she filed for divorce two years later, in 2014.

However, the couple remained in an on-again, off-again relationship until she publicly accused Lucas of cheating in 2020, “in the middle of a pandemic.” The former couple also have a 12-year-old son, Noah, whom they care for together.

In 2018, the Ford V Ferrari actor opened up about People about raising their son after the divorce, saying, “We are both completely committed to raising our son and are in love with him.”

“I believe our relationship will continue to change…it is a particularly complex period in my life.”

Before his relationship with Brianna Ruffalo, Josh was also in a relationship with model Rachel Mortenson. The couple reportedly split in late 2021 after he deleted his Instagram account and unfollowed her.

The engagement news comes after Lucas already shared details about the final chapter of Yellowstone, hinting that fans can expect a big goodbye.

The actor revealed that he has spoken to the series creator about the second half of season 5, which is set to begin production this summer after a significant delay.

I sent a text message [creator] Taylor Sheridan a few months ago, and his answer was, “Absolutely, we’re going to wrap this up in about 10 episodes,” Josh told Entertainment tonight.

The first part of season 5 consisted of eight episodes and was completed in January. The premiere of the second part is scheduled for November.

After speaking with Taylor, Josh, who plays the younger John Dutton (Kevin Costner’s character) in flashback scenes, said he expects to be back in the saddle for Season 5, Part 2.

“I said, ‘Hey man, I’ve had so much fun working on the show,’ and he said, ‘Well, we’re coming back,'” Josh explained. “I can’t wait to do it.”

On the possibility of a spinoff with Lucas playing the Montana rancher, Josh said, “Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I would love it.”

He added: ‘I mean, I love the world that Taylor has created, obviously. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously starting in the 19th century. So yeah, I would be there in a heartbeat.’
