Josh Lucas is ready to tie the knot with his girlfriend Brianna Ruffalo.

The 53-year-old Yellowstone star got engaged to the Los Angeles meteorologist during their recent Italian getaway, according to a report from TMZ on Saturday.

According to the outlet’s sources, the couple traveled extensively around the country, visiting Positano and Naples for the summer holidays.

Lucas reportedly saw this as the ideal time to pop the question, given Ruffalo’s ancestral ties to Italy.

The brunette beauty accepted the offer and upon their arrival in Los Angeles, the couple joyfully shared the news with their families, who are said to be very happy for them.

Their engagement marks the culmination of a year and a half of dating, which began with a chance meeting at a restaurant while Lucas was on the set of his new show Palm Royale, insiders said.

In real life, Lucas successfully won his girlfriend’s heart, but his character in Sweet Home Alabama was not so lucky.

Lucas rose to fame for his role in the 2002 romantic comedy opposite Reese Witherspoon, in which he played Witherspoon’s estranged husband Jake, while Patrick Dempsey played her fiancé Andrew.

During a red carpet event in May, Ruffalo admitted she wasn’t rooting for Lucas’ character in the film, telling E!, “I’m team Patrick Dempsey.”

Ruffalo even joked that her opinion was an “ongoing problem” in their relationship.

‘From day one, [Brianna] said, “Oh yeah, you were the other guy,” Lucas said at the time.

“She said something like, ‘I didn’t like you because you stole her from Patrick.'”

According to the star, Lucas and Ruffalo once tried to watch Sweet Home Alabama together, despite her character preference.

The actor, who is busy promoting his new series Palm Royale starring Kristen Wiig, revealed that he has spoken to the series creator about the second half of season 5, which is set to begin production this summer after a significant delay.

‘I sent a text [creator] Taylor Sheridan a few months ago, and his response was, “Absolutely, we’re going to finish this in about ten episodes,” Josh said. AND.

The first part of season 5 consisted of eight episodes and concluded in January. The premiere of the second part is scheduled for November.

After speaking with Taylor, Josh, who plays the younger John Dutton (Kevin Costner’s character) in flashback scenes, said he expects to re-saddle for Season 5, Part 2.

“I said, ‘Hey man, I had so much fun working on the show,’ and he said, ‘Well, we’ll be back,'” Josh explained. “I can’t wait to do it.”

On the possibility of a spinoff starring Lucas as the Montana rancher, Josh said, “Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I would love it.’

He added: ‘I mean, I love the world that Taylor has created, obviously. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously starting in the 19th century. So yeah, I would be there in a heartbeat.’
