Yellowstone is officially coming to an end
Yellowstone will end at the end of this season, Paramount has confirmed, with its star Kevin Costner now embroiled in an ugly divorce battle with wife Christine Baumgartner.
Paramount Network has announced that Yellowstone is officially ending with the final episodes of the fifth season launching in November.
The show has been a monster hit for the network, telling the story of the Dutton family and their struggle over their massive Montana ranch.
But Yellowstone fans will likely be reassured by the news that a sequel has already received a full series order.
Matthew McConaughey has been tipped as a possible star, though producers have yet to confirm any new cast members.

Matthew McConaughey is in talks with Paramount to star in a Yellowstone sequel
The announcement follows a lengthy battle between Paramount and Costner over the star’s schedule.
The Academy Award winner, who is currently filming for his upcoming film Horizon, has reportedly declined for more than a week to work on the second half of Yellowstone’s final season.
This frustrated Sheridan, given Costner’s starring role as John Dutton, the head of the Dutton family, and had damaged morale among the show’s other stars, including Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley, it was reported.
The first half of the season, known as 5A, continued to be a hit for the network, drawing over 17 million viewers for its premiere.
Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement: “Yellowstone has been the cornerstone upon which we’ve launched an entire universe of global hits – from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I’m confident our sequel will are.” another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan [the show’s creator] and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”
deadline previously reported that Interstellar star McConaughey is in talks with Paramount about taking the lead in a Yellowstone sequel.
A Paramount spokesperson told the publication that “McConaughey is a phenomenal talent who we would love to work with.”
The new show will begin on Paramount Network and then stream exclusively on Paramount+.
Marital troubles: Costner’s second wife, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce on Monday
Baumgartner cited “irreconcilable differences” and requested joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 15; Hayes, 14; and Grace, 12
The news comes at a difficult time for Costner, whose second wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce on Monday.
The couple has been married since 2004.
Baumgartner cited “irreconcilable differences” and requested joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 15; Hayes, 14; and Grace, 12, TMZ reported.
Costner filed a response the next day with celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, also asking for joint custody.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have arisen that have caused Mr. Costner to participate in an action for dissolution of the marriage,” Costner’s representative said in a statement.
“We ask that the privacy of him, Christine and their children be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Baumgartner did not file for spousal support, and Wasser’s reply indicated that there was a prenuptial agreement between the former couple that would determine this.
