1923, the series that tells the origin story of the Dutton family of Yellowstone, has been renewed for a second season on Paramount+.
Legendary stars Harrison Ford, 80, and Helen Mirren, 77, play Jacob and Cara on The Taylor Sheridan Show.
The project takes place at a time “when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition plague the mountain West and the Duttons who call it home,” notes Paramount+.
News of a renewal comes just weeks after the December 2022 premiere episode of the first season.
At the time, the show made headlines for debuting with 7.4 million viewers, according to the hollywood reporter.

The premiere episode, which featured Helen’s Cara Dutton killing an intruder and more, had four cable broadcasts, three on Paramount Network and one on CMT.
Following its success, Tanya Giles, Director of Programming for Paramount Streaming, said: “Supported by the incredible vision of Taylor Sheridan and performances by legends Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, we are confident that this next chapter in the history of origin of the Dutton family will resonate with the public”. .’

1923 features Ford in his first major television role, playing Jacob Dutton opposite Oscar winner Mirren as his wife Cara Dutton.
The cast also includes Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, and Jerome Flynn.
1923 is the second Yellowstone prequel series, following last year’s 1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton.
Sheridan also has another current spinoff titled 6666, set at Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, and is expected to debut in 2023.
Yellowstone premiered its fifth season in mid-November, with 10.3 million viewers on Paramount Network, CMT, TV Land and Pop.

Last year, Harrison said THR how he was introduced to 1923: “I met with Taylor, who gave me a very brief summary of what he had in mind, and I followed in faith and my experience with Yellowstone, 1883.”
He gushed of the director: “He has produced a work of incredible ambition, scale and scope.” [and] film ambition. Taylor thinks of each of these episodes as a one-hour movie. And that’s the product we’re getting.’
Weeks before the announcement of a second season, the iconic actor said he hoped to continue with the show.
‘I have been very satisfied, encouraged and challenged by the work at hand. We have another season, I hope, to meet this character and see him in different circumstances. But I’m having a great time. I really enjoy it,’ he said last December.
