Yellowjackets season 3 story synopsis and rumors
Full spoilers ahead ahead Yellowjackets seasons 1 and 2.
There’s a lot to discuss when it comes to where Yellowjackets season 3 could be the next story. In an exclusive first look, Entertainment Weekly spoke with co-creator Ashley Lyle, who revealed that “there’s a little time jump in both timelines” in Season 3.
The best place to start when it comes to the plot summary Yellowjackets season 3 is by taking a look at the season 2 finale, where both timelines were in trouble. In the past, the shelter where the girls were staying was burned to the ground in an epic finale. How? It appears Coach Ben was responsible and locked the girls inside, as he was last seen outside with a box of matches. Terribly suspicious.
The group also has a new leader and Antler Queen: Natalie. While Shauna seethed over the choice Lottie made, there are clearly some tensions to be found in season 3. During an interview with EWSophie Thatcher, who plays young Natalie, said: “I have no idea if people will actually continue with her leadership. That’s exciting to think about. But the writers always surprise us.”
In the current timeline, Shauna became the next target when Lottie led the women on another hunt. Although she is saved just in time by her daughter. Lottie, Van, Natalie, Misty, Taissa and Shauna reunite at Lottie’s sinister wellness retreat.
The reunion quickly took a turn when Lottie declared that they had to sacrifice someone to the wilderness, beginning the ritual they had created in the past. This led to one of the most shocking parts of the season 2 finale, the death of Natalie (Juliette Lewis). Viewers witnessed her being accidentally killed by Misty (Christina Ricci), who tried to save her and killed Lisa instead. The consequences of this will certainly be visible in season 3.
Plus, there’s Van and Taissa’s relationship to explore. Co-creator Bart Nickerson told us EW: “One of the things that we’ve always tried to play with, but maybe even more so this season, is that, as a result of a lot of their experiences, they’ve obviously put away a lot of terrible things, but they’re also trying to make the best of to bring himself back from that time. Some of that will be explored through that relationship.
Speak with Vanity fairsaid Lyle, when it comes to Season 3, there are “at least two really big questions” they will answer. Adding: “We’re going to find out more about what happened in the wilderness that they’re so afraid to come out into. We hope it will be both satisfying and sometimes unexpected.” Moreover, at a X/Twitter messageshe said, “Are we going to get even weirder? Probably! Will the consequences of *redacted* death affect our (anti)heroes in huge ways? Will our girls’ fight for survival against the elements (and themselves) become even and nastier? Do we still need to tell Pit Girl’s story?’

Will Yellowjackets return after season 3?
While there is no official news Yellowjackets season 4, the show was renewed for season 3 before season 2 even came out, so there could be something to share sooner or later. Although Melanie Lynskey, who plays Shauna, posted X/Twitter: “Look, I’ll do this show forever if they let me.”
And it seems like while it may not be forever, there could be at least a few more seasons of it Yellowjackets coming. Speak with EWLyle revealed, “The original plan was for five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that.” Although she added, “There’s always room for stuff,” we don’t really see this as more than a five-season show. I think there are shows that can go on forever, but I think when you’re telling such an in-depth serialized story and it’s about the lives of these characters, you want to get to a satisfying conclusion and not drag things out forever .”
