The second season of Yellow jackets is almost here, and the latest trailer for the heart-pounding TV series shows us what Lottie Matthews has been up to since the 1990s plane crash that left a few traumatized teenage girl survivors resorting to cannibalism in the northeastern American wilderness.
Apparently, in the years since she survived that traumatic experience and grew up, Lottie has led a large group of people in what appears to be a cult. Actress Simone Russell will bring a really spooky vibe to the role and shed some tears in the trailer as she says, “I thought we left it there when we got rescued. But now I realize we took it with us.”
Speaking of haunted, this trailer debuts with a song that is a perfect example of trailercore; it’s an eerie, slowed-down version of No Doubt’s 1995 pop-rock hit “Just a Girl,” performed by Florence and the Machine. The cover is now available to stream on all major music platforms.
But let’s get back to this trailer, shall we? Alongside adult Lottie Matthews, we get to see adult Van, played by Lauren Ambrose with an impressive scar makeup on her face; Taissa (Tawny Cypress) apparently shows up to see Van now that they are both adults. It looks like Taissa and Van are having a romantic flare up this season – or at least they’re apparently getting close enough to engage in a comforting hug!
The trailer also shows us a snippet of conversation from a brand new character played by Elijah Wood, who tells adult Misty (played by Christina Ricci), “Everyone is hiding something!” The show’s first season proved the same, and the second season is poised to see the show’s heroines unravel more details about their shared traumatic past, even loose threads like “What’s up with Lottie?” get tied up.
Season 2 of Yellow jackets premieres March 26 on Showtime.
