Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes debuted a custom pair of denim shoes Saturday afternoon, but said after spring training against the Twins that he would retire the statement shoes.

The light blue spikes were humorously dubbed “jeats” by the Yankees’ X account, who posted a photo of the shoes before the game.

But Cortes didn’t have his best day on the mound, as he allowed six earned runs and nine hits in 3.1 innings – although half of his run total came on a three-run triple where center fielder Greg Allen couldn’t find the ball.

Afterwards, the 29-year-old told the New York Post that he was done wearing the cleats.

β€œI try to put a little flair into it,” he said. “I don’t think many people liked it.”

Cortes, who played just 12 games last year due to a rotator cuff injury, added that he was glad he was able to make it through the Yankees’ visit to Fort Myers, Florida, unscathed.

β€œThe goal for me coming here was to get my pitch count back up, get four ups and get into the low 60s (of pitches). And the best thing about it was that I came out healthy,” he told The Post.

‘Happy with where I am now, body-wise. Probably a few pitches I could have controlled better, but other than that (I was happy).”

The Yankees lost 10-7 to the Twins on Saturday.

They have a few more weeks of practice before opening their season against the Astros on March 28.
