New York Yankees fans are outraged after Aaron Judge was left off the team for Sunday’s deciding game against the Baltimore Orioles — days after he finally returned from a sprained toe.
Judge hit a home run — his 20th of the season — as the Yankees beat the Orioles 8-3 on Saturday night, and Yankees fans are hoping his return to health will coincide with a return to form for the team.
He played his first game back on Friday and sprained his toe against the Dodgers when he crashed through a fence in the outfield on June 3.
But much to the anger of the New York fan base, Judge was left off the team on Sunday as coach Aaron Boone tries to lighten his workload after nearly two months.
The Yankees are currently last in the AL East with a 55-49 record.

Furious Yankees fans took to Twitter to call for Aaron Boone’s firing
As the team announced on Twitter, one fan wrote, “Not like this is a win-win game or anything… he’ll have plenty of time to rest in October at this rate.”
Another said, “This organization has no right to a playoff spot. Completely unserious attitude for a team in this current situation.’
It was Boone who was the subject of much anger, with some fans clamoring for his firing.
“Aaron Boone, you should be fired for malpractice. The rubber game against the best team in the AL and first place in your division and you’re Aaron Judge. Put his goddamn bat in the lineup,” said one Yankees fan.
Another fan compared Boone’s lineup to losing a war, saying, “Aaron Boone is the type of guy who wouldn’t use his gun in a war because he wouldn’t want it to jam, so he tries to take the hill with sticks and stones. YOU ARE GOING TO DIE, JUST USE YOUR BEST WEAPONS!”
Another said, “Aaron Boone, what’s wrong with Judge DHing today? He also has 3 Homers from the starting pitcher. Are you trying to lose?’
Before the game, Boone did suggest that Judge could be used for pinch-hitting if necessary.
“We’ve had the help of Aaron Judge for the past two days, which normally would have been in Somerset or elsewhere,” Boone said before the game.
The Yankees manager also hinted early in the series that he would rest Judge for a game ahead of a huge week ahead with the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros heading to Yankee Stadium.
