Yankees fan who ripped ball from Mookie Betts breaks silence as footage shows them being ejected from World Series

The Yankees fan who dramatically tried to snatch the ball from Mookie Betts’ glove has spoken out after being thrown out of the World Series game.

Tuesday’s game in the Bronx took an early turn when Betts jumped into the stands and caught a hit from Gleyber Torres in the bottom of the first inning. However, after the Los Angeles star grabbed the ball, the fan – later identified as Austin Capobianco – tried to forcefully pull the ball out of Betts’ glove.

Unsurprisingly, the outfielder wasn’t happy with Copabianco’s attempt to claw the ball away after grabbing it. After being escorted from the arena, the 38-year-old from Connecticut broke his silence.

“I just want to watch the game,” wrote shortly before Anthony Volpe’s third-inning grand slam erupted the stadium, per The Athletics.

A video of Copabianco and another fan trying to grab the ball, being approached by security and led to the exit attracted attention on social media. The sold-out stadium then began cheering their eviction as they received high-fives and handshakes on the way out.

Capobianco’s brother, Darren, 29, insisted he saw Betts’ glove go over the wall as he tried to catch Torres’ goal. He also noted that his brother is a season ticket holder.

“I just see the ball, I don’t want to say go for the grab, if that makes sense,” Darren Capobianco said. “And then Mookie cursed at us. Not good.’
