Xbox Mini Fridge: everything you need to know and where to buy
>
The Xbox Mini Fridge shouldn’t exist, but we’re thankful it does. It’s rare for a joke to result in a real product idea in the video game industry, especially if it’s made at a company’s expense. But that’s exactly what happened with the Xbox Mini Fridge, which is now on sale.
When the Xbox Series X was unveiled to the world – with its towering, rectangular shape – users were quick to take to social media compared the console to a refrigerator. So instead of going back on the design, Microsoft embraced the fun, going so far as to create a giant Xbox Series X fridge for players to keep their snacks cool during each gaming session.
It didn’t take long for gamers to be desperate for an Xbox Mini fridge to be produced, and at E3 2021 Microsoft obliged. The company announced that an Xbox Series X Mini Fridge would then be produced, and the rest is history. The Xbox Mini Fridge is a sought-after collector’s item for any Xbox fan and has been in high demand since its release.

Design of the Xbox Mini refrigerator
The Xbox Mini Fridge is designed to look exactly like an Xbox Series X, and in many ways it delivers on this aspect. You’ll find everything you can see on Microsoft’s flagship console here, including a working USB port on the front that can power a device like your smartphone. The power button and vent on the top of the Xbox Mini Fridge can also be individually lit, giving the device a more refined look.
On the back of the Xbox Mini Fridge is a switch that allows you to turn on the device and choose eco or max mode. Both modes exhibit a fairly audible amount of fan noise, but the eco mode isn’t too intrusive.
Inside there’s room for up to 12 soda cans thanks to the 10 liter capacity, and a couple of removable shelves to store some snacks in the door. The Xbox Mini Fridge keeps things cool, but condensation can occur inside, as indicated by a warning label on the inside.
Xbox Mini Fridge: Where to Buy
The Xbox Mini Fridge is only available at Target in the US and Game in the UK. Both retailers are struggling to keep the product in stock, as it has proven very popular with fans who want a one-of-a-kind souvenir or simply want a mini fridge as part of their lineup.
Why Did Microsoft Create an Xbox Mini Fridge?
The Xbox Mini fridge was given the go-ahead after Xbox marketing chief Aaron Greenberg promised to produce the product if the company won Twitter’s #BestofTweets contest, which it did with the narrowest margins of 50.5% to 49.5% . To encourage more votes, Greenberg said Xbox mini fridges would go into production if the brand came out on top. The rest, as they say, is history.
Is the Xbox Mini Fridge Worth It?
The Xbox Mini Fridge is a novelty product that is sure to appeal to Xbox fans. Yes, it works as a mini fridge, but it’s not exactly a class-leading appliance, so keep that in mind. The fan noise can be quite distracting for some, but if you’ve set up the Xbox Series X Mini Fridge in another room, it’s not a problem. Still, there are some really nice design elements, such as a backlit power button and fan on the top, along with a working USB port that add a lot to the overall appeal of the Xbox Mini fridge.
