Xbox Live is DOWN: Major outage blocks thousands of players from accessing online gaming profiles
Xbox Live is experiencing a major outage, leaving thousands of players unable to log in to their profiles.
Outage monitoring site DownDetector reports that as of 2:00 p.m. ET, the problems are still occurring for users in the US, UK, and parts of Europe, Asia and South America.
Users are reporting issues with login, server connections, and gameplay.
Social media is reacting en masse to the sudden crash. For example, a user on X shared that he had worked hard for eight hours to be able to play video games, but that Xbox Live was now down.

Xbox Support has acknowledged the outage on X, writing, “We’re aware some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live. We’re investigating!”
In the US alone, DownDetector has received over 38,000 problem reports. Players in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other major cities have reported issues.
Although the multiplayer online gaming service is not available, users can still play video games on their console.
Xbox Live gives you access to online content and the ability to play with friends for a monthly fee.
Then there’s Xbox Live Gold, a premium subscription that lets you match with other strangers online and play with friends.
Although users are able to play the games they purchased, many are still frustrated by the issues.
Many users are demanding a refund from Microsoft, owner of Xbox, due to a loss of service.
Others joked about it, as one X user wrote: ‘Xbox off, I think I’ll go talk to my girlfriend.’
“You may be unable to sign in to your Xbox profile, experience disconnections while signed in, or experience other related issues,” the Xbox status page reads.
‘Features that require sign-in, such as most games, apps, and social activities, are not available.’
