Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy set the record for the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine after clocking an astonishing 4.21.
The previous record was set by former Washington Huskies WR John Ross III after he ran 4.22 in 2017.

Worthy put his speed on full display when he hit a top speed of 22.7 mph against Iowa State
During his three-year career with the Longhorns, Worthy totaled 197 receptions, 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns.
His speed has been well recorded this year, even before the 40-yard dash, after he reached a top speed of 22.7 mph while returning a punt for a touchdown in Week 12 against Iowa State, which was called back due to a penalty.
That number ultimately ended up being the highest clocked of any player in college football in 2023.
It’s also slightly faster than what Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf posted after hitting 22.23 mph against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13.
Worthy was expected to be a Day 2 draft selection and the boost to his stock after Saturday’s 40 will likely land him a second- or third-round pick.
