Elon Musk’s X Platform (formerly Twitter) has suspended the account of Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, it emerged today.
“Account suspended,” her account reads, with a note underneath: “X suspends accounts that violate the X Rules.”
It was not immediately clear what rules had been broken.
Her account on the Elon Musk-owned social media platform was set up on February 19 to share a video of her speaking to the camera.
In the video, she accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of killing her husband.

Alexei Navalny, 47, fell unconscious and died suddenly on Friday after walking through the ‘Polar Wolf’ penal colony above the Arctic Circle, where he was serving a three-decade prison sentence, the prison service said.
The West and Navalny’s supporters say Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death.
The Kremlin has denied involvement and said Western claims that Putin was responsible were unacceptable.
Within just 24 hours of creating the account, more than 90,000 people followed Navalnaya.
Before the account was suspended, X users were already reporting problems quoting or replying to Navalnaya’s tweets.
