X Factor winner Dami Im reveals how difficult it is to balance marriage and motherhood with her music career
Dami Im opened up on Wednesday about the reality of balancing her successful music career with being a mother to a one-year-old son.
The X Factor star, 34, said she feels like being a mum is an ‘extra layer’ to her identity and one that complements her singing career perfectly.
“I got married pretty early, so I was always expected to grow up quickly and become a mother, and I still wanted to play and work on my career,” she shared Yahoo lifestyle.
‘So there was always that tension that I didn’t even understand myself and where it came from.
“Once I’m a mother, will I suddenly have to become that old lady who talks about their kids all the time? No, but I’m quite enjoying it, much more than I thought,” she joked.

Dami revealed it was an exciting time for her as her new EP called In Between came out this week – her first new music since becoming a mother.
“It’ll be funny because people don’t actually know any of the songs except the few that are already out, because the tour starts on the day of release,” she said.
The South Korean-born star welcomed her son Harrison in May last year, and last month revealed she sometimes “griefs the loss” of her old life.

The stunner rose to fame when she won the fifth season of the singing contest before representing Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

“Looking back, it was a very intense change of everything in my life. It was such a tough transition mentally, emotionally and physically,” Dami told the publication.
“I got married pretty early, so I was always expected to grow up quickly and become a mother, and I still wanted to play and work on my career,” Dami told Yahoo Lifestyle
She went on to say that she feared her singing career would collapse after Harrison’s birth, saying her audience might see her as “just a mother now.”
Ever the songwriter at heart, the Smile hitmaker channeled all her concerns into her new EP called In Between, which was released on July 6.
Dami has been married to Noah Kim since 2012 and they welcomed their first child Harrison on May 12, 2022.
