X-Factor Australia star charged with baby’s murder after major police investigation
Former X-Factor contestant Mitchell Callaway has been charged with the murder of a nine-month-old baby, ending a five-year police investigation.
Callaway, 37, was arrested at about 9.45am on Thursday morning at a home in Bowraville, central west NSW.
He was taken to the Macksville Police Department and charged with murder.

After receiving new information, officers investigating the baby’s death executed a search warrant at a house in Binnaway on May 31.
After further investigation, detectives working under Strike Force King arrested Callaway on Thursday and charged him with murder.
On July 23, 2018, emergency services were called to a Binnaway home after reports that a nine-month-old baby had become unresponsive.
The little girl was rushed to Coonabarabran Hospital where she died a short time later, despite the best efforts of staff and paramedics.

Callaway was a contestant on the X-Factor Australia TV show in 2011.
He placed 7th in the competition.
The 37-year-old has been denied bail and will appear in Macksville District Court on Thursday.
