The X Factor favourite scores new TV role in gripping six-part crime thriller 16 years after winning singing contest

Alexandra Burke has scored a role in a new television show sixteen years after winning The X Factor.

The 35-year-old singer has joined the cast of the new Paramount+ drama Curfew, it was announced Tuesday.

Bancroft star Sarah Parish and Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill will helm the six-part crime thriller.

The program is set in a world where men have to adhere to a strict curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night.

They will be monitored 24 hours a day using ankle tags as part of the Women’s Safety Act.

A synopsis reads: ‘When the body of a woman is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew and left on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre, veteran police officer Pamela Green believes a man is responsible.

“But in a world where men are subject to curfews, her theory is rejected.”

Sarah will play the role of Pamela, who. could jeopardize the Women’s Safety Act as part of her quest for the truth, with her actions drawing the attention of some very powerful people.

Mandeep will play Sarah, an employee at the tagging center where the body is found.

Pop star Alexandra will play Helen, a “well-meaning teacher at a local school and curfew advocate.”

Mayflies star Mitchell Robertson will also appear as police officer Eddie.

The program was commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer, UK, and Paul Testar for Paramount+.

He said: “Curfew is a gripping addition to our British originals slate for Paramount+.

It comes after Alexandra broke down in tears as she revealed the immense guilt she felt when returning to work just two months after giving birth to her first child.

She took minimal maternity leave to participate again in the touring production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2022.

Alexandra, who welcomed her second child with her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph, 36, in September last year, cried as she once revealed she begged bosses to delay the start of a show because her baby was in distress and needed feeding had.

The singer said that on the Dirty mother Pukka podcast: ‘There were times when I was about to go on stage, and I can’t remember what room I was in, and my firstborn was crying and they said, “The curtain has to go up” and I was like ” I have to feed the baby.” I said, “Hold the show.”

‘The pressure I had and felt to score on that podium. I said, “You might as well let me feed the baby because I’m crying on stage,” and you couldn’t open the show because I was standing there crying.

“And as much as everyone thought, ‘The baby’s going to be okay, it’s going to be okay.’ But I’m their mother and I felt so guilty, and I still feel that guilt.

It comes after Alexandra broke down in tears as she revealed the enormous guilt she felt when returning to work just two months after giving birth to her first child.

“It’s not like even the baby remembers, but I won’t forget.”

Alexandra said it was a huge learning curve for her and that she will “never allow myself to walk away from my child again.”

“I also have to say that while I felt that pressure, and that moment sticks with me, of course I signed up to do that show and the curtain goes up every night at 7:30 and I’m very aware of that. ,’ she said.

“There are thousands of people in the audience waiting for the show to start, so I don’t blame anyone for that situation. At the same time, it still makes me emotional.’
