Wyong alleged torture-murder case: Injuries of hospitalised mum Mariana Taitoko, 44, revealed

A grandmother who was allegedly kidnapped and tortured with a ‘jet flame’ lighter over a drug debt remains in hospital with 18 burns on her body and bleeding on her brain.

Mariana Cheri Taitoko, 44, and Sean Froggatt, 52, were allegedly held against their will in a housing commission unit in Wyong, on the central coast of New South Wales, from Thursday to Saturday. .

Mr. Froggatt’s lifeless body was discovered in the unit’s dormitory after Ms. Taitoko managed to escape and call the police from a friend’s house on Saturday afternoon.

Ms Taitoko was in stable condition at Gosford Hospital on Tuesday after suffering ‘serious’ burns to her chest and arms, as well as head injuries. 7News informed.

Daniel Hasapis, 30, was charged with murder and kidnapping, while his hairdresser girlfriend, Bonnie Cullen, 33, was charged with concealing a felony.

Hasapis is alleged to have beaten and tortured Mr. Froggatt throughout the three days and burned him and Ms. Taitoko with a ‘jet flame’ lighter.

Police say the alleged torture and kidnapping was related to an unpaid drug debt.

Cullen, who rented the unit and shared it with Hasapis, is not accused of being responsible for Mr. Froggatt’s death or Ms. Taitoko’s kidnapping.

The alleged abduction came after Cullen left glowing comments on Ms. Taitoko’s Facebook photos in recent months.

“You look stunning ma’am xo,” she captioned an eight-month-old photo of the 44-year-old.

In a previous post of a selfie taken by Ms. Taitoko, Cullen commented, “So cute, I love you with straight hair.”

NSW Police Superintendent Chad Gillies said the four people knew each other.

Mr. Froggatt had lived in the housing commission unit compound, while Ms. Taitoko lived nearby.

Hasapis was arrested at the unit on Saturday and Cullen was taken away in handcuffs while visiting a relative in nearby Watanobbi.

Neighbors said they did not notice anything out of the ordinary when they saw the two defendants and the two alleged victims together on Australia Day.

A neighbor told Daily Mail Australia that Froggatt was a nice guy.

“It was harmless,” he said.

Detectives are seen Monday at the Wyong unit complex where the alleged crimes occurred.

Cullen had often complimented Ms. Taitoko in the comments on the photos she posted online.

In a Facebook post, Cullen said Ms Taitoko, 44, looked “stunning”.

It wouldn’t hurt a fly.

The woman said she ran into Cullen around the building several times, but never saw her boyfriend.

She said she didn’t hear any unusual noises Saturday.

“I’ve been here 20 years and I’ve only seen Bonnie three times,” he said.

“I didn’t really get involved with her or our other neighbors. We become attached to ourselves.

Froggatt had been living with epilepsy and needed a caregiver.

Both Cullen’s and Hasapis’s matters were mentioned in the Wyong Local Court on Monday, however neither appeared in court or applied for bail.

They will remain in custody until their next appearance on March 28.

Flowers and a newspaper detailing the incident have been left outside the unit.
