Wyoming’s state treasurer gets standing ovation after wild attack on governor: ‘I’m done taking his s**t!’
Wyoming’s state treasurer received a standing ovation after telling Gov. Mark Gordon at a Republican Party meeting that he was “done with this.”
Treasury Secretary Curt Meier railed against the Republican governor on Saturday at the Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee in Douglas.
“He just surprised me yesterday,” Meier said of Gordon, as reported by Cowboy State Daily.
He’s not going to work with me, he’s not going to work with me [Wyoming Secretary of State] Claw [Gray]he only cares about himself….
“I know this is probably going to cut my throat in this budget, but I’m tired of taking his s**t… forgive my language. That’s just me.”

Meier was reportedly frustrated after the governor’s office rejected a proposal that would have given the treasurer’s office more control over the state’s investments, including hiring managers.
In his speech, the treasurer said he had kept his contempt for the governor “secret” for six years before airing his grievances.
He then listed a series of alleged transgressions by the governor, claiming that Gordon “wanted to make the treasurer’s office a ceremonial one.”
If I hadn’t had friends in the [state] “If I were a senator for 24 years, I would have absolutely nothing to do,” Meier said.
Meier also spoke of “a problem in our Constitution” that allows “power-hungry people running for governor to decide that they control all elected officials, through the budget or in some other way.”
“It’s not about the power of the office or the power of the person, it’s about having power over the people,” Meier added in his speech at the GOP rally.

He continued and said, ‘[Governors] like power. They don’t understand that they shouldn’t seek power. They should give power to the people.’
Gordon’s office told CSD he was concerned the measure would “put too much power in the hands of one person.”
The governor said he was not so concerned about Meier, but about the possibility of immoral persons holding the office of treasurer in the future.
Gordon won a second term as governor in 2022 after being elected in 2018. He previously served as treasurer.
Meanwhile, on January 7, 2019, Meier was sworn in as Wyoming’s 31st Secretary of the Treasury.
According to his website, Meier “is also a successful businessman, operating a farm and ranch in his hometown of La Grange, and previously owned and operated an irrigation company.”
