An astonishing 30-hour standoff ended when Wyoming police tore apart an innocent woman’s $200,000 home in an attempt to lure out a murder suspect.
Officials say William Lowery, 46, shot and killed Sheridan Police Sergeant Nevada Krinkee Tuesday morning as the officer served a trespassing order at a rental home where the alleged killer had been squatting for five months.
An armed Lowery then ran to Karo Hamilton’s home, where he barricaded himself. During the standoff, police brought in a crawler excavator, a high-pressure hose and at least one Bearcat armored vehicle, as reported by Sheridan Media.

That afternoon, Lowery was shot dead as he tried to escape the house, which looked as if a tornado had ripped through it.
“It’s going to have to be bulldozed and rebuilt from the ground up,” Hamilton’s niece Rachael Trueblood told KTVQ. “She’ll have to move for now.”
Trueblood said Hamilton was not home when the suspect broke in, but her live-in mother was there and managed to escape after Lowery broke in and barricaded himself in the basement.
The community has rallied around homeowner Hamilton and is working on a plan to rebuild the house at no cost.
Contractor Jeremiah Morley has offered to help rebuild the home and is recruiting local contractors to help, he told Cowboy State Daily.

“My job is to orchestrate the subcontractors, plumbers, electricians and HVAC guys. From the looks of it, it’s going to be a complete loss,” he said of the destroyed home.
Morley estimated that rebuilding the home will cost at least $200,000, but the cost will depend on whether the home’s foundation can be saved.
A spokesperson for the Sheridan Police Department said they are working with “the homeowner’s attorneys on a resolution.”
