Wynn Resorts unveils renderings for colossal $12BILLION casino complex in Manhattan that features an 80-story tower dedicated to betting, a hotel and a 6-acre park on the Hudson

Wynn Resorts has unveiled its ambitious plans for a massive $12 billion casino complex at Hudson Yards on Manhattan’s west side.

New renderings released by the company show an 80-story tower overlooking the Hudson River, with a hotel and gaming facilities. The spiky metal casino tower would be surrounded by a 5.6-acre park and other office and apartment buildings.

Pedestrians walking the High Line, an abandoned railway line converted into a park on the west side of Manhattan, would be able to walk directly past the site and enter the enormous resort between West 30th and 33rd Streets and 11th and 12 Avenues.

A rendering of the planned development from the Hudson River shows a gleaming office building and a residential tower to the right of the casino resort tower.

However, approval will have to come from the state, which will decide whether to grant casino licenses in the Big Apple – while another gaming site is proposed in Queens.

The Wynn project also includes a 750-seat public school, community facility and daycare center within the massive complex.

If the Hudson Yards West project gets the green light, it could create 35,000 union construction jobs and 5,000 permanent resort jobs, developers claim.

The planned hotel could be a convenient stop for visitors attending events at the adjacent Javits Center, Wynn officials claim.

“As the world’s leading designer, developer and operator of premium gaming resorts, Wynn New York City will attract luxury and aspirational travelers to our destination resort at Hudson Yards,” Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, told the New York Post.

“Wynn guests consistently spend more when they travel,” he explained.

Adding, “That results in higher tax revenue for the city and state and more spending in the local community, all with less foot traffic than might be needed at other resorts.”

“Hudson Yards has already proven to be an unparalleled catalyst for New York’s economy, first through tens of thousands of construction jobs and now as home to the world’s leading businesses, retail and residential construction,” said Jeff Blau, CEO of Related Companies. YorkPost.

“Moving forward with the second phase of development presents an incredible opportunity to double the impact and deliver generational benefits to the state, the city and especially our West Side neighbors,” he explained.

Adding: “We look forward to completing our vision for the neighborhood in partnership with Wynn Resorts and unveiling full project plans as part of our New York State application.”

New York State is currently deciding whether to award up to three casino licenses in New York City, Long Island and the northern suburbs.

“New York needs revenue (and) the licenses are sitting on a shelf, collecting dust and doing nothing for our people,” Sen. Joseph Addabbo, chairman of the state’s Racing, Gaming and Betting Commission, told reporters. the Gothamist.

Each awarded casino would have to pay a licensing fee of at least $500 million.

One of those bidders for the Queens slot is Steve Cohen, the owner of the New York Mets.

Cohen’s plans include an $8 billion gaming center, hotel and music venue near Citi Field, which he has dubbed “Metropolitan Park.”

However, not everyone in Albany agrees with New York City. Senator Liz Krueger told the Gothamist that the risk of a casino outweighs the potential rewards.

“Does Manhattan Island need a casino for any reason?” she said. “We’re short on land and desperate for affordable housing and open space, but we can go ahead and do those things without tying them to a casino because we have no purpose for a casino.”
