WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins confirms torn MCL, partially torn meniscus, but does not rule out competing at WrestleMania 40 in early April

Seth Rollins may not be out of action until after WrestleMania 40, as WWE’s world heavyweight champion said he will defy doctor’s orders if it means he can compete in the company’s biggest annual show.
Rollins confirmed on Monday night’s RAW that he suffered a Grade 2 MCL tear and a partially torn meniscus while defending his championship against Jinder Mahal last week.
According to Rollins, it will take 3 to 4 months for the injuries to fully heal. WrestleMania 40 is scheduled for well under that timetable on April 6 and 7.
Rollins wore a large brace over his left knee as he addressed the crowd to open Monday’s show.
“I don’t care what the doctors tell me,” Rollins said in the squared circle. “…I will keep my promise, I will take this title to WrestleMania.”
Rollins wants to compete at WrestleMania 40 in early April, but may not be healthy enough
Traditionally, the World Championship matches the main event WrestleMania, with Rollins missing a huge opportunity if he isn’t cleared for the spectacle.
Rollins said the injury occurred while performing a Moonsault on a prone Mahal, with the 37-year-old champion first feeling the extent of the damage when RAW went off the air and he was walking backstage.
In recent weeks, Rollins’ WrestleMania opponent was thought to be CM Punk.
Punk and Rollins have been trading verbal blows since the former returned to WWE from rival All Elite Wrestling in November.
Still, it’s unclear if Rollins will have time to be medically cleared for WrestleMania.
“We don’t really know what the future holds,” Rollins added.
