Charlotte Flair's knee injury requires surgery that will sideline the WWE star for approximately nine months.
The 37-year-old was forced out of the ring during last Friday's WWE Smackdown after appearing to slip and get tangled in the ropes during her fight against Asuka.
Flair was described as noticeably favoring her at this point as she tried to figure out the fight earlier shouting “my knee” as referee Charles Robinson and medical staff attended to her after the match.
The fighter limped in the final moments of a match that ended abruptly after interference from Bayley allowed Asuka to pin her.
The incident was not shown during the broadcast and there was no update on Flair's injury until the WWE broke their silence on Friday.

Supporters will no doubt be disappointed that she will miss both the Royal Rumble (in seven weeks) and next year's Wrestlemania due to the injury.
Flair was toppled by Rhea Ripley at Wrestlemania in April at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles
On Smackdown, Flair was involved in a rivalry with Damage CTRL, and in November she teamed with Bianca Belair, Shotzi and Becky Lynch in the WarGames match at Survivor Series.
The quartet defeated Auska, Bayley, IYO Sky and Kairi Sane.
