WWE legend Hulk Hogan, 70, details addiction to prescription pills following 25 surgeries as now-sober wrestler admits he was ‘like a dog chasing a bone’ getting his fix

WWE legend Hulk Hogan has detailed his addiction to prescription pills after 25 surgeries left him in excruciating pain.

Now sober, Hulk, real name Terry Gene Bollea, 70, told me Muscle And Health that he was “like a dog chasing a bone” to find his solution and explains why he stopped drinking alcohol after turning his life around.

He said, “I’ve practiced drinking a lot because I’ve wrestled for like 40 years, so those guys have a beer now and then.

‘But about seven months ago I decided to stop drinking alcohol. I was at a New Year’s Eve party and I saw a lot of things that I didn’t approve of or like. I saw myself in this environment and said, “You know what? I don’t know how I got here, but I’m done with it.”

“I was around people who believed and behaved differently than I did, and I just said, ‘I’m out.’ It feels much better to be so clear-headed. I don’t feel like drinking alcohol anymore.

“I don’t have an addictive personality. I mean, with anything. It could be business or people, or alcohol or drugs. When I’m done, I’m done.’

He continued, “I’ve seen certain wrestlers look me in the face and say, ‘If you don’t have a drink with me, you’re not my friend.’ I say, “Well, I’m your friend, but I’m not going to drink with you. What are you going to do about it?”

“Sometimes wrestlers are a little intimidating. I have many friends who like to party, but they no longer try to force alcohol on me.’

Hulk now credits CBD as helping him take a healthier route after becoming too dependent on prescription pills.

He said: ‘I was confused at first, because I had never used CBD before. I didn’t understand the health aspects of what it can do for you in terms of energy, sleep or slow weaning off of hard drugs or meds and weaning it off.

“It took me a while to figure it out because I’m a little slow. I had to do a lot of research and do my due diligence. I thought this was something that would really benefit a lot of people who needed help, and I’m sure it will.”

Together, The Royal Rumble has added Hogan’s Health to their family of brands. The products are intended to help improve health, well-being and recovery. Having had twenty-five major surgeries over the past decade, Hulk can now vouch for the benefits of CBD first hand.

He explained; ‘I had doctors giving me prescription after prescription and suddenly it became a vicious circle.

“I was on painkillers hard because I had to have twenty-five procedures, including ten on my back, facial surgery after I got kicked, knee and hip replacements, and abdominal and shoulder surgery.

“There was a period, about five or six years ago, when I was in so much pain that I couldn’t even function. When you have back surgery, it takes a good year for your body to recover, yet they cut me back every four months.

‘I needed painkillers at that stage, that’s for sure. But once things started to calm down, they kept giving me the same meds. It got to a point where I was recovering from tenth back surgery and the pharmacy called me and said, “Your prescription is ready,” and like a dog chasing a bone, I’m going to pick it up.

He added: “Then in the end I just looked at myself and said, ‘I’m not in pain. I don’t need this. My body hurts from all the wrestling injuries, but I’m not in this excruciating situation. pain I can’t live with.”

“But then the CBD took me to a place where my joints, when I wake up, don’t hurt as much.” When I pick up weights, I don’t have to do four or five sets before things start to clear.

‘I notice it as soon as the CBD reaches my system; it calms everything down. With CBD, the inflammation disappeared immediately. Usually my wrists are extremely swollen at the end of the day. Now they are fine. I immediately noticed a change when I started it.’

‘We have found that CBD is a logical alternative to prescription drugs, helping people to relax slowly. I really focus on helping people with their health, whether it’s guys coming back from war, hard-core drug users, or people who have fallen into the drug trap due to illness or anxiety. CBD is great for sleep and can also help overcome alcohol abuse.”

Since January, Hogan has lost forty pounds, taking him from 300 to a ripped 260.

And he just announced his third engagement to yoga instructor Sky Daily, 45,

He said, ‘AAs soon as I stopped drinking, I didn’t feel like eating junk food at night, and the weight just started falling off me. In fact, I wish I had lost it more slowly, because when your arms are really big and then shrink two to four inches, you have loose skin. I didn’t think it would work so quickly.’

To maintain his impressive pack, Hulk works out six days a week in his home gym and sticks to a diet he describes as “very boring.”

“Right now I’m enjoying life at the beach, playing bass for fun when my daughter Brooke comes to visit, working on my cars, and partying hard and down to earth. Life is good!’
