Security was called into action at the WWE event in Newark on Sunday after an angry fan jumped the ringside barricade to attack wrestling superstar Grayson Waller.

Waller triumphed alongside Austin Theory over Odyssey Jones and Cameron Grimes this weekend as part of 'A-Town Down Under', but the victory was marred by an irate fan who jumped the barricade in an attempt to confront him.

The Australian wrestler taunted some fans with a pre-match promo cut, running past the crowd before fighting in the ring.

Failing to calm his temper during the fight, the WWE fan launched himself over the barricade in an attempt to reach Waller, but was immediately wrestled to the ground by security.

As the fan was ejected and dumped over the fence, Waller and his teammate walked confidently around the ring, unfazed by the incident.

Waller took to social media after the game and mocked the fan's decision to hire him.

“This is what happens when idiotic Americans try to pick a fight with an Australian,” the wrestler posted on social media on Monday.

The 33-year-old Australian, whose real name is Matthew Farrelly, first joined the WWE in 2021 and was drafted by SmackDown during the 2023 draft.

Waller made headlines in October for his controversial comments about famous singer Taylor Swift and her fans known as 'Swifties'.

He angered fans after mocking the pop star's relationship with Travis Kelce on The Bump, a WWE YouTube show.

“Good for Trav [Kelce]Waller said.

'I'm not the type to settle for a six, but to each his own. For me personally, I like a bit of spice, I like a nine or a 10.

“I know (WWE tag team partner) Austin (Theory) too, we're on the same level. Good for him for settling down and doing his best.”
