WWE breaks its all-time gate record of $21.5 million after selling more than 90,000 tickets for WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia

WWE broke its all-time gate record after selling more than 90,000 tickets for WrestleMania 40’s two-day event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in April 2024.
The previous WWE gate record was held by WrestleMania 39, which was previously held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in 2023 and grossed $21.5 million.
WrestleMania 40 marks the first time the annual event has been held in the Northeastern United States since WrestleMania 35 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
It will also be the first time the show will take place in Philadelphia since WrestleMania 15 in 1999, when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin defeated The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) for the WWE Championship.
Tickets for the event went on sale to the general public on Friday, and it has already broken the WWE gate record, according to Action Network’s Darren Rovell.

WWE superstar Cody Rhodes – who is expected to play a major role in the event if he is healthy at the time – recently told Isabella DiAmore of the Philadelphia Inquirer that he believed Philadelphia was the “perfect place” for WrestleMania 40.
“I would say a struggling crowd in Philly is a contrary struggling crowd,” said Rhodes.
“Whatever the story, Philly can’t guarantee that they’ll agree with that story. In a sense, they’ll let you know if they really like someone, and if they don’t like someone, which is perhaps the intent, they’ll let you know too.’
Fellow WWE superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin later told Philly Live’s Aunyea Lachelle that he would love to take on some of the Philadelphia Eagles stars, like Jason Kelce or Jalen Hurts.
‘Who knows?’ said the Miz. “I’m taking the full charge.”
“I tag team with Patrick Mahomes,” he joked.
Booming ticket sales will bring a huge payday to WWE with seats close to the floor action for both nights costing a whopping $10,000.
