WWE boss Triple H opens up on The Rock’s inevitable return following success of the Hollywood star’s WrestleMania run… and tells fans what to expect when he makes comeback

WWE boss Triple H has revealed when The Rock will be back in WWE after his successful most recent run in the company.

The Hollywood star returned to WWE programming early this year as a face – or “good” character – and had one of the most popular runs of his career after going – bad – before WrestleMania.

He teamed with real-life cousin Roman Reigns to defeat new WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of the first night of ‘Mania, and was instrumental in Reigns’ loss to Rhodes on the second night .

‘The Great One’ revealed on RAW after WrestleMania that he had to ‘go away’ for a short period of time to work on his latest film projects, but vowed to return soon and go after Rhodes’ title.

Speaking at Sports Business Journal’s World Congress of Sports in Los Angeles, Triple H gave a preview of what to expect when The Rock returns, warning fans to buckle up.

HHH said of his rival’s most recent run, “We were thrilled to have Rock involved. When you can have the biggest star in the world, arguably, wanting to be a part of what we’re doing, and in a meaningful way, and doing it in a way where he’s not just saying, ‘Hey, yeah, I’m coming in , tell me what to do, I’m going to do this”.

“But all his resources, all his brainpower, all his creativity, all that stuff, his branding, everything, I want to invest in this, I want to make it a great ride for our fans, it doesn’t get any better than that not.

“He’s going away, he’s making a few movies now and like he said a week ago, he’s coming back and it’s going to be quite a ride when he comes back.”

Fans are speculating about when the 51-year-old will return, with some suggesting SummerSlam later this year in what is WWE’s second biggest event of the year behind ‘Mania’.

It appears he will at least have a role at WrestleMania next year, possibly opposite Rhodes, although he could be involved in The Bloodline story that has seen Solo Sikoa turn against Jimmy Uso.

“If you had told me at the beginning of the conversation that we were going to get the Final Boss heel version of The Rock, I would have said you were crazy,” Triple H added about the star. “But that’s his dedication.”

It remains unclear whether fans should expect a rivalry between The Rock and Reigns, and it seems like this would be the direction coming out of WrestleMania.

Like The Rock, former champion Reigns is expected to take an extended break from TV, although he will still be heavily involved in the creative development of the storyline surrounding The Bloodline.
