Wrexham star Paul Mullin reacted hilariously after nearly biting an opponent during Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Birmingham City.
Mullin failed to find the target as Jay Stansfield’s double ensured victory for the Blues in a match managed by Tom Brady, who has a minority stake in Birmingham, and Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney.
Manchester United legends Gary Neville and David Beckham were also in attendance at St Andrew’s that evening as Brady’s guests.
However, Mullin almost made headlines when he came agonisingly close to his own Luis Suarez moment during the League One match.
The incident occurred in the second half when Birmingham defender Alec Cochrane fell on Mullin.

Mullin then almost appeared to bite Cochrane’s calf in similar scenes as Luis Suarez
But the Wrexham man wisely backed out despite the incident sparking a mass brawl
The Wrexham star then grabbed Cochrane by the calf and appeared to be about to bite him.
However, Mullin wisely managed to restrain himself before sinking his teeth into his rival.
Mullin responded to the incident in question on social media after the match, posting a message on X: ‘I know what it looks like.. but it didn’t happen. Although you can see his leg was thinking about attacking my mouth.’
The incident led to a violent row between the two teams and the referee had to issue five yellow cards, including one each to Wrexham’s James McClean and Birmingham captain Krystian Bielik.
Five minutes later, Bielik was sent off for a second yellow card, but Wrexham were unable to utilise the extra players.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Cochrane described the brawl as nothing more than “handbag throwing”.
“I honestly don’t really know,” Cochrane said.
‘I was just lying on the floor. Handbags out of nowhere. A lot of nonsense, honestly.’

Mullin was wise not to continue biting Cochrane, given the lengthy suspensions Suarez received for three separate biting incidents.
The Uruguayan was given a seven-match suspension in 2010, during his Ajax period, after he bit PSV’s Otman Bakkal.
Three years later, Suarez resumed his career after finding Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and receiving a 10-match ban from the English Football Association.
But the former Liverpool marksman was handed a staggering four-month ban and an additional nine-match international ban after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup.
