Wow, January 2025 looks absolutely packed with movies for genre fanatics

January is no longer just a playground for studios looking to sink. And the beginning of 2025 is shaping up to be a very exciting time for those who enjoy a good genre film.

Think about the January releases of the last few years: in 2023 we got the thriller genre Underwater and a nice franchise return in Bad boys for life; M3GAN, Aeroplane, Sick, And Missing; The 2024 crop included action films Bend! And The beekeeper.

But the January 2025 lineup takes the month to a whole new level. There’s Mickey17 yearsBong Joon-ho’s sci-fi comedy starring Robert Pattinson who has a wonderfully strange voice. There’s Den of Thieves 2: Panterathe sequel to the LA heist thriller Garbage Bag Heat Thieves’ Denwhich looks fantastic. (Check out the new trailer at the top of this story.)
