An item at Costco has received a lot of media attention for its skin-crawling appearance.
The food item, called Naked Lobster, consists of two packages of lobsters with their shells completely – and perfectly – removed.
They retail for $39.99 for a two-pack, making them an extremely good value.
TikTok user The Sushi Guy (@photogami) is testing out the product to show viewers that despite its intimidating appearance, the two-pack is actually a good deal.
Many commenters said the lobster looked fake or unnatural when it was deshelled.
“A tremendous amount of pressure on the lobster kills it instantly, and its flash comes straight out of the shell,” the user said in the video.
The two-pack of 6.5-ounce lobsters is vacuum packed with compound butter. He pointed out that there was no perforated line separating the two crustaceans.

These pre-cooked lobsters are ready to reheat from the freezer, eliminating the need for thawing.
Each lobster is bathed in flavorful herb butter, perfect for a quick and delicious weeknight meal.
And because the shells are already removed, you can easily make all your favorite lobster dishes at home, like lobster mac and cheese.
The packets seem to cook relatively problem-free. The content creator demonstrated how to prepare the dish.
He places the vacuum-packed lobster package in a boiling pan of water for 11 minutes.
Using tongs, the creator of the contents removes the package from the water, revealing two perfectly cooked lobsters in melted butter.
“If you overcook it, it will be too rubbery. If you don’t cook it, it will be too slimy. In the bag you put a kind of sous vide at home, it’s fantastic,” the user said in his review.

He added that the lobster was a bit salty, if he had to criticize, but since he was making a lobster roll, he said it was perfect.
With a brioche bun, lemon juice, butter and some Old Bay seasoning, this was the ideal lobster roll for home according to the user.
“I would give that an 8 out of 10, good value,” he said.
