World’s tallest residential building to be built in Brazil, named after Ayrton Senna

The world’s tallest residential building, to be named after national hero Ayrton Senna, will be built after government approval is granted.

The Senna Tower, which is soon to be built in the southern Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú, could reach a height of 500 meters if it is actually built.

This will make the current tallest tower block in the world, the Central Park Tower in New York City, 18 meters higher.

The concept, which reportedly cost £415 million, was conceived by architectural firm FG Empreendimentos and designed by Senna’s visual artist cousin Lalalli.

She said, “Every great story begins with a journey. A journey of discovery, growth, and transformation.

‘The Senna Tower is a work of art of monumental proportions: a symbol that inspires us to overcome our limitations and express the greatness within ourselves.

‘The tower has this architectural form to symbolize precisely this heroic journey of overcoming our ideals and manifesting our deep potential.’

Senna is one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers ever. He astonished his fans with his astonishing speed on the track. He won three world championships with McLaren before leaving for Williams in 1994.

Tragically, he died during his first season with his new team after a high-speed crash at that year’s San Marino Grand Prix.

The development, which has been approved by the Brazilian government and environmental authorities, will feature 204 apartments, 18 “floating townhouses,” four duplex penthouses and two mega triplex penthouses.

According to a study by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 57.22% of Balneário Camboriú residents live in apartments, the second highest percentage of all cities in the country.

This statistic has led to the city being nicknamed the ‘Brazilian Dubai’ by locals.

The municipality is the second smallest city in the state in terms of territorial size, although it ranks twelfth in terms of absolute population size.

Jean Graciola, co-founder and chairman of FG Empreendimentos, said: ‘Our tireless focus on innovation, technology and the pursuit of the extraordinary sets us apart.

‘Design and construction is an art, and thanks to our expertise we can bring this daring project to Santa Catarina, developed by talented hands and in collaboration with the world’s best engineering firms.

‘This is our mission: to transform an extraordinary, intangible concept into something real and timeless, so that we leave a legacy that will last beyond our generation and carry the message for the future.’
