Alisha Lehmann has been targeted by trolls for wearing make-up during Switzerland’s 7-1 win at home to Spain.
Lehmann – who is known as ‘the sexiest footballer in the world’ and the most followed female footballer on social media – started in the Swiss Nations League match against the Spaniards, but could not prevent a heavy home loss.
However, some users decided to attack her for choosing to wear makeup during the game.
One wrote: ‘All that make-up just to lose one to seven on home soil.’ Another said: ‘Ever feel like a muppet because you’re the only one with make-up playing a sport?’
“Why all the makeup during a match?” one Instagram user added, and another wrote: “Less paint and more goals.”

At the time of writing, Lehmann – who has 16 million Instagram followers – had more than 670,000 likes on the photo, which showed her in action during the match, lining up with her teammates.
But the abuse she received in the mail is nothing new; she spoke this summer about how she deals with trolls, many of whom have sent her mean messages telling her to “stay in the kitchen,” saying it gives her strength.
“People often say: women can’t play football, they have to be in the kitchen,” Lehmann told Sky Sports.
‘Do you know what I actually think? Of course it’s not nice to say, because we train so hard every day, but it gives me more strength.
Lehmann posted photos of himself during the match and defiantly said: ‘Never give up’
‘I feel bad when my mother sends me things. I tell her, “Don’t read this, I would never read it.” To be honest, I don’t really care (about the reactions). I just don’t read or watch. I just turn it off and focus on the good responses.
‘Behind a computer it is always easy to say something. I don’t think people would stand in front of our female footballers and say, ‘You can’t play’.”
Despite her growing following, the Swiss-born star has insisted she never set out to become a social media sensation.
“The people who know me always see the footballer,” she added in the interview. ‘Every time I’m with my friends and family, all I talk about is football.

‘It’s always been there, it’s deep in my heart because it’s what I’ve always done. The other things came just in time.
‘Of course I have a lot of followers, but I never dreamed of it. I just played and shared my life. It just turned out that way.”
Recently, Lehmann made headlines after revealing that an A-list celebrity once offered her £90,000 for a one-night stand.
She also revealed that superstar rapper Drake once messaged her asking if he could have a sweater.
