Alica Schmidt — dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” — has opened up about what life is like for athletes at the World Championships in Athletics.
Schmidt is a track and field athlete who represented Germany at the World Cup in Budapest, Hungary in August.
The 24-year-old’s team came seventh in the final of the 4×400 meter relay after running a time difference of 51.96 in the second leg.
And Schmidt has taken to the social media site Instagram, where she has 4.3 million followers, to show off her daily routine and a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of competitors.
In her video, posted on the Olympic Games page, she said, “Hi guys, my name is Alica Schmidt and I’m a German track and field athlete competing here at the World Championships in Budapest and I’m going to take you through my day and show you how my day as an athlete looks like.’
After breakfast, she added, “Okay, I just finished my workout. According to today’s plan, I only had a recovery session because I’m racing for the women’s relay on Saturday.

“After training I also did an ice bath and went to physio, now I’m going to have lunch,” before revealing herself heading to a team meeting and supporting fellow German athletes.
Schmidt, who is on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, called out Manchester City star Erling Haaland for a race – having already beaten a World Cup winner.
Norwegian top star Haaland scored a staggering 52 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions last season as City won the treble, aided by his impressive pace, power and acceleration, clocking a speed of over 36.5km/h last season.
But Schmidt thinks she can beat the explosive striker in her favorite 400m event, though she admits she’d find it “harder” in the 200m.
She recently set a personal best in the 400 meters of 51.96 seconds (approximately 27 km/h on average) and has supported herself against Haaland.
At the request of the Norwegian outlet Dagbladet If she could beat him in a race, the 24-year-old replied, “Hmm, I don’t know, maybe. I think, at 400 meters, yes. At 200 meters it would be more difficult. But I would be happy if the race continues.’
She was then asked when the race would take place and replied, “I don’t know, I have to ask him.” But I’m always ready.’
Schmidt, whose German team finished seventh in the final of the 4x400m mixed relay last week, then turned to the camera before adding: ‘So Haaland, if you’re ready to race I’d be happy.

In addition to sprinting, the 24-year-old German was featured on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list last year
“Let’s see who’s faster!”
Schmidt previously took on 2014 World Cup winner and Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels in a similar race two years ago and won comfortably.
In 2017, Australian magazine Busted Coverage named Alica the “world’s sexiest athlete.” However, speaking to The Sun, Alica revealed that she didn’t like the title.
This title means nothing to me. It is based on someone else’s subjective opinion judging a person’s appearance.
“I like to think that beauty comes from within,” she said.
