New York police evacuated the World Trade Center station in New York City Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat and a “suspicious package” in the building.

Cops issued an urgent warning just before 1:30 p.m. warning people to stay away from The Oculus because of the package, which they now believe is a pressure cooker.

The pot is believed to have been left in the last car of a PATH train from Newark in New Jersey, which remained at the station for over an hour before it was found.

Witnesses say they were taken from the station in the Big Apple’s Financial District amid the evacuation alert.

The NYPD said: “Due to a police investigation, please avoid The Oculus at this time.”

Witnesses report that there are currently no PATH trains running to or from the World Trade Center, after a package was allegedly left on the tracks.

Footage from the scene showed police and members of the military enforcing a cordon as frantic commuters poured out of the building.

Emergency vehicles, including NYPD vans and helicopters, were seen outside the area as police continue to investigate and evacuate the station.

The Oculus, which is the transportation hub that houses the PATH and Subway platforms of the World Trade Center, is one of the buildings built after the attacks on the Twin Towers in 2001.

PATH Trains confirmed the suspension of the line and the ongoing investigation, writing: ‘HOB-WTC remains suspended. NWK-WTC is operating NWK-EXPL. PAPD continues to investigate an incident at WTC.’
